Building Opportunities for Businesses Inner-City (BOB) is the economic development agency created by the Vancouver Agreement for the Downtown Eastside/inner-city. Our mandate is the “revitalization without displacement” of existing residents and businesses. BOB’s purpose is to support an economic development model for Vancouver’s inner city that is inclusive of existing residents and businesses. We are committed to:
- Strengthening the inner-city’s community capacity
- Identifying and capitalizing on untapped business opportunities in the inner-city
- Improving employment opportunities and retention for inner-city residents
- Increasing investment in the inner-city
BOB has recently begun work in the inner city to increase awareness of sustainability, encourage sustainable business practices, and develop green jobs and the green economy. BOB’s mandate is to support the development and growth of green or sustainable businesses while also facilitating job creation and workforce development for this emerging type of industry.
